Welcome to the Freedom 21 Notes site
This site is for Freedom 21 owners and sailors. The
Freedom 21 sailboat was designed by Garry Hoyt for Freedom Yachts in the
early 80's. At least a couple hundred were built by TPI (Tillotson
Pearson, the JBoat manufacturer) in the 1980's. It is still
manufactured in England, and still much loved here in the States.
It is not a common sailboat, in any sense of the word. It is
designed to be fun to sail, easy enough for a novice and challenging enough
for an experienced sailor, an unusual combination.
Other Freedom web sites
I pulled the Freedom UK site as it got shut down (sigh). They
were never very computerized to begin with (contact page was a 404).
Pity, as they had an interesting keel design.
Haarstick does an excellent job on Freedoms and other boats, check with Gordie Brown there (no I don't get commissions, etc).
If you have a web site on your Freedom 21, let me know and I will post a
link.

While you can certainly
email me,
I suggest you post questions on the Freedom message board. When it
is not suffering from spam attacks (I hate trafficbbs), it is a great
resource.

Some Freedom 21 snaps - I set up a photo album for my boat (Engineered) and forJohn Gedaminski's
boat (Blue Merle). John's
traded up to a J/32 recently, but has been known to reminisce about his
old boat (shown here at left).
Some of the snaps show details of changes we made. If you
see something that could be better, let's chat about it on the
Freedom
web site, I am always trying to learn how to do this better. |
NWS Forecast for Thomas Point Light
This is where I sail, well, Herring Bay actually, south of TPL on the
Chesapeake Bay. The point of this part of the web site is to tell
you to quit reading, go get some weather and get out on the water.
That is the whole Freedom Yachts philosophy, so let's quit fussing and
go sailing. It is a frame so you'll need to scroll...
